Handover and Opening Ceremony for a School in Magway Region

The handover and opening ceremony of Hta Naung Gone Village Basic Education High School in Pwint Phyu Township in Magway Region was held on 8th November 2016.

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Hideaki MATSUO, Counselor of the Embassy of Japan, H.E.Dr. Aung Moe Nyo, Magway Region Chief Minister, Committee Chairperson, committee members of the construction project, and local residents.

At the ceremony, H.E. Dr. Aung Moe Nyo stated, “This school is one of the schools in Myanmar that had been affected by the flood occurred in 2015. I would like to sincerely thanks the Japanese Government for supporting most of the flood-affected schools including this school. I wish for the further development of relations between Japan and Myanmar.”

Following the speech, Mr. MATSUO stated, “The Japanese Government had been focusing on our education sector as a priority since before. Likewise, we will keep supporting for the Myanmar education sector development due to its high needs and importance.”

The Government of Japan provided US$71,543 under the Japanese Government’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) Scheme for the above project. The Government of Japan, under its GGP Scheme, is planning to continue various assistances in the future, and anticipates that it will further strengthen existing friendly relations between Japan and Myanmar.
