Handover and Opening Ceremonies for a Monastic School and an Orthopedic Hospital in Mandalay Region

The handover ceremonies of Ye Na Thar Village Monastic Post Primary School in Madaya Township and Mandalay Orthopedic Hospital in Chan Mya Tharsi Township, Mandalay Region were held on 15th and 16th January 2017, respectively.

The ceremonies were attended by Mr. Yuichiro FUNAI, First Secretary of the Embassy of Japan, Dr. Zaw Myint Maung, Mandalay Region Chief Minister, Committee Chairpersons, committee members of the construction projects and local residents.

At the ceremony of Ye Na Thar Village Monastic Post Primary School, Dr. Zaw Myint Maung, Mandalay Region Chief Minister stated, “The Monastic School has been playing a vital role in educating the needy children for a long time, while the Government has been developing the Education sector. We really appreciate the great support given by the Japanese Government and its people. Although it is not enough to express our gratitude in words, teachers, students and residents will maintain the building properly for sure.”

Following the speech, Mr. Yuichiro FUNAI stated, “We have experientially acknowledged the importance of education and the Japanese Government will continuously support the education sector in Myanmar.”

The Government of Japan provided US$188,356 under the Japanese Government’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) Scheme for the above two projects. The Government of Japan, under its GGP Scheme, is planning to continue various assistances in the future, and anticipates that it will further strengthen existing friendly relations between Japan and Myanmar.
