Letter of appreciation from Ambassador of Japan in Myanmar regarding the Tohoku-Pacific Ocean Earthquake |
March 28, 2011
To the Government of Myanmar and all those who have expressed your condolences,
The Embassy of Japan in Myanmar has received letters of condolences and donations, including a donation of 100,000 US dollars from the Government of Myanmar handed over through H.E. U Nyan Win, Minister for Foreign Affairs. I am fully aware that these letters and donations are from the people of Myanmar who wish to help the people affected by the earthquake and tsunami disaster on March 11, 2011 in the northeastern part of Japan as well as the Pacific coast areas.
The toll of deceased or missing persons in this massive disaster is still continuing to rise. The extent of damage is not yet clear. Furthermore, the Japanese public and private sectors have joined forces in their continuous effort to resolve the issue of the nuclear power complex in Fukushima Prefecture.
The Embassy of Japan in Myanmar will send all that is donated in Myanmar to Japan to meet its purpose of relief for the affected people of the Tohoku-Pacific Ocean Earthquake.
With heartfelt thanks to all of you.
Takashi SAITO Ambassador
