The hand-over ceremony of 3 medical equipment to Jivitadana Sangha Hospital in Bahan Township,Yangon Region was held on Nov 26, 2013. It was attended by Mr. Ichiro MARUYAMA, Minister-Counselor of the Embassy of Japan, Retired Brigadier General U Tint Swe, Patron of Myanmar Association of Japan Alumni (MAJA) and the Jivitadana Sangha Hospital Management Committee, U Maung Maung, President of Hospital Management Committee, Committee members and medical staff of the hospital.

At the ceremony, Mr. Maruyama, mentioned in his speech that this kind of assistance supported for health sector development gives the positive impact on the human resource development which is the main key for sustainable growth of every nation. President of Jivitadana Sangha Hospital Management Committee, U Maung Maung expressed his appreciation to the Japanese Government and its people and mentioned that this assistance will give better health care services to monks and nuns, the poor of Myanmar at that 200 bedded hospital which is also serving about 13,000 out-patients per month by the 150 volunteer specialists.

The government of Japan provided USD $85,415, under the Japanese Government’s Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGP) Scheme, for one Holmun laser for Urology Department, one Phaco machine for Eye Department and one Shortwave Diathemy for Physical Medicine Department of the Jivitadana Sangha Hospital. The Government of Japan is planning to continue assistance for the health sector of Myanmar in future as well. Japanese Government expects that this assistance will further strengthen existing friendly relations between Japan and Myanmar.
