Hand-over and Opening Ceremony of Thayargon Village Branch High School in Yangon Region, constructed by Japanese Government’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) Scheme
At the ceremony, Ms. TOKUNAGA said, on behalf of the Embassy of Japan and Japanese people, that she was proud of the hand-over and opening ceremony of new school building and wished that the students from that school will contribute to the development of Myanmar in future. U Min Zaw, Director of the Department of Basic Education No (3), mentioned in his speech that thanks to GGP Scheme by the good will of the Government of Japan and its people, a new school building was constructed to help the people in need. He urged the students, teachers and local residents to pay attention on maintenance of the school building for long-term utilization.
U Maung Maung Toe, the Northern District Education Officer of Yangon Region, also mentioned in his speech that the number of students are increasing year by year and more and more school buildings are in need all over the country and Ministry of Education will continue to make efforts to upgrade the present education system. He also urged the students to study hard at this newly constructed school building donated by the good will of the Government of Japan and Japanese people.
The Government of Japan, under the Scheme of Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects, provided USD93,424 for construction of a one-storey RC building with 3 classrooms equipped with school furniture, toilets and walkway. The Government of Japan has plan to continue the assistance in education sector of Myanmar in future as well. Japanese Government expects that this assistance will further strengthen existing friendly relations between Japan and Myanmar.
