
The hand over and opening ceremony of ChaungZauk Village Branch High School in Thanlyin Township, Yangon Region which was constructed under the Japanese Government’s Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGP) Scheme, was held on April 5, 2013.Ms. Tokunaga, Third Secretary of Embassy of Japan to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, U LwinOo, Representative ofPyi Thu Hluttaw together with the local people attended the said ceremony.
At the ceremony, Ms.Tokunaga said on behalf of the embassy and Japanese people that she was proudof the hand over and opening ceremony of new school building and wished that the students from this school will contribute the development of Myanmar in future. After that speech, Pyi Thu Hluttaw Representative, U LwinOo expressed his gratitude that a great new school building has come out with tax from Japanese people and he deeply appreciated Japanese government and its people for this assistance. He also mentioned the National Plan which includes education as an important sector for the development of the country. Lastly he urged the students, teachers and local people to take care of maintenance of the school building for long-term utilization.
The government of Japan provided the fund USD $ 84,481 for construction of a one-story reinforced concrete school building, which comprises of 4 classrooms, toilets, school furniture and walk way.The Government of Japan, under its Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGP) Scheme has a plan to continue to assist for Educational sector of Myanmar in future as well. Japanese Government expects that this assistance will provide a further strengthen existing friendly relations between Japan and Myanmar.
