
The hand-over and opening ceremony of two monastic schools in Mingalardon and North Okkalapa Townships of Yangon Region, took place on February 3, 2013. Mr.Ichiro MARUYAMA, Minister-Counselor of the Embassy of Japan, Sayardaw Badanta Kititarya, Chairman of Monastic Education Supervisory Committee of Yangon Region, committee chairmen and committee members of each school construction project, students and local residents attended two ceremonies.
At the ceremony, Mr. Maruyama wished that the students studying in those new school buildings are going to be well-educated generation in the future and to be able to contribute the development of Myanmar. He urged the students to set the individual goal for future plan. He expressed his hope that students from those schools would choose the right path to build the dream by thinking not only well-being of themselves but also well-being for societies.
After that speech, Sayardaw Badanta Kititarya, Chairman of Monastic Education Supervisory Committee of Yangon Region, expressed his deep gratitude for his heart for getting better learning environment and explained that it was not easy to build such a new construction building without the support of Japanese government. He also urged the students to study hard at this newly constructed school building donated by the good will from the people of Government of Japan.
The Japanese Government granted US$87,150 for Shwe Min Wun Monastic Post Primary School for construction of two storey RC building with 6 classrooms, school furniture and toilets, and US$100,507 for North Okkalapa Dhamamaydini Monastic Basic Middle School for construction of three storey RC building with 6 classrooms and school furniture. It is expected that this assistance will further strengthen existing friendly relation between Japan and Myanmar. Japan’s assistance to build schools under GGP scheme courts as many as 651 up to today.
