Hand-over and Opening Ceremony of Sub Rural Health Center and Schools in Chin State and Sagaing Region, constructed by Japanese Government’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) Scheme

The hand-over and opening ceremony of Nan Han Nwe Village Basic Education Middle School in Kalay Township, Sagaing Region, Sub Rural Health Center in Falam Township, No.3 Basic Education High School in Haka Township and Tan Ta Lang Basic Education Branch High School in Tan Ta Lang Township, Chin State took place on June 14th,15th and 16th, 2014 respectively.

The Nan Han Nwe Village BEMS ceremony was attended by District Administrator, District Director of Education of Sagain Region, Mr. Kota WATANABE, Third Secretary of the Embassy of Japan, governmental officials, committee chairman and committee members and local residents. In SRHC in Falam Township, it was attended by District Police Brig-General, Mr. Kota WATANABE, Third Secretary of the Embassy of Japan, Township Deputy Administrator, Assistant Medical Officer, committee chairman and committee members and local residents. The No.3 BEHS in Haka was attended by Chin State Chief Minister and State Ministers, Mr. Kota WATANABE, Third Secretary of the Embassy of Japan, Chief Justice of the Union, District Director of Education, committee chairman and members and local residents. At the Tan Ta Lang BEHS,branch, it was attended by Chin State Chief Minister and State Ministers, Mr. Kota WATANABE, Third Secretary of the Embassy of Japan, State Director of Education, committee chairman and members and local residents.

At the ceremonies, Chin State Chief Minister gave the speeches that it is the time for Myanmar education with the vision that “All the school children must go to the school”. Moreover, he encouraged not only to schoolchildren but also to teachers to use the supported buildings effectively and to maintain for sustainability. Then, the speech concluded with expressing his sincere gratitude to Japanese government and its people. Mr. Kota WATANABE gave the speeches that we estimated that education would be one of the important factors to strengthen living standard of Myanmar and national races reconciliation. He also hopes that these supports will strengthen existing friendly relations between Japan and Myanmar which marks its 60 years anniversary of diplomatic relations this year as well as will be supportive for the local ethnic people of Chin State.

The government of Japan provided USD $680,224 under the Japanese Government’s Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGP) Scheme for the construction of Sub Rural Health Center and Schools in Chin State and Sagaing Region. The Government of Japan, under its GGP Scheme is planning to continue various assistance in future as well. Japanese Government expects that this assistance will further strengthen existing friendly relations between Japan and Myanmar, which marks its 60 years anniversary of diplomatic relations this year.
