
The handover and opening ceremony of Kyaiksakaw Village Basic Education Branch Middle School in Daik U Township, Bago Region took place on July 15th 2014. U Ko Htay, Representative for Bago Region Hluttaw, Deputy Director of Bago Distrinct Education Department, U Nyein Tun Kyaw, Daik U Township Administrator, teachers and students, committee chairman and committee members of the project and local residents attended this ceremony
At the ceremony, first, U Nyein Tun Kyaw, Daik U Township Administrator, expressed his sincere thanks to Japan Government and people for the school construction. He said he believed that schoolchildren could happily learn after having access to the good learning environment. Then, he concluded his speech by encouraging schoolteachers and schoolchildren to maintain the constructed school for the long-term sustainability.
Ms. TOKUNAGA expressed her sincere appreciation for the smooth implementation of the school construction. Then, she said that this school is a present from the people of Japan for the school children who bear a part in the future of Myanmar. For the future of Myanmar, it is important that schoolchildren can play in the playing times and they can study in the studying times. In the past, Japan had focused more on the education sector aspect. Taking lessons learnt from their country’s experience, the Government of Japan is offering assistance to upgrade and strengthen Myanmar’s education administration sector. Then, she concluded her speech hoping the children who studied at the school will grow to support the future of Myanmar and wishing for strengthening of existing friendly relations between Japan and Myanmar, which marks its 60 years anniversary of diplomatic relations this year.
The Government of Japan provided USD $100,544 under its Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGP) Scheme for the construction of Basic Education Branch Middle School in Daik U Township, Bago Region. The Government of Japan, under its GGP Scheme is planning to continue various assistance in future as well. The Government of Japan expects that this assistance will further strengthen existing friendly relations between Japan and Myanmar, which marks its 60 years anniversary of diplomatic relations this year.
