
The handover and opening ceremony of Eye Special Clinic in the Tipitaka Paleyaung Shein Monastery in Mingalardon Township, Yangon Region took place on July 17th, 2014. Mr. Ichiro MARUYAMA, Minister Counselor of the Embassy of Japan, Ms. Sumie ARIMA, Second Secretary of the Embassy of Japan, U Mya Nyein, Deputy Speaker of Amyotha Hluttaw, U Khin Shwe, House of Nationality for Amyothar Hluttaw, Badana Kudapala, Head Monk of Tipitaka Paleyaung Shein Monastery, committee chairman and committee members of construction project and local residents attended this ceremony.
At the ceremony, U Mya Nyein, Deputy Speaker of Amyothar Hluttaw, delivered the opening remark that this eye special clinic would benefit the patients who suffer from eye diseases or ophthalmologic disorders. Then, He, on behalf of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and Amyotha Hluttaw, expressed his deepest appreciation to the Japanese Government and its people. Mr. Ichiro MARUYAMA, expressed appreciation of the completion of the construction. He also noted that this support will strengthen existing friendly relations between Japan and Myanmar which marks its 60 years anniversary of diplomatic relations this year.
The Japanese Government provided USD $123,228 under its Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) Scheme for the Eye Special Clinic in the Tipitaka Paleyaung Shein Monastery in Mingalardon Township, Yangon Region. The Government of Japan, under its GGP Scheme, is planning to continue various assistances in the future. The Japanese Government anticipates that this assistance will further strengthen existing friendly relations between Japan and Myanmar, which marks its 60 years anniversary of diplomatic relations this year.
