
The handover and opening ceremony of Khanaung Chaungwa Village Basic Education Middle School took place in Dala Township, Yangon Region on January 15, 2015. This ceremony was attended by Mr. Katsuyuki MATSUOKA, Second Secretary of the Embassy of Japan, U Htay Shein, Pyithu Hluttaw Representative for Dala Constituency, Daw Swe Swe Lei, Deputy Director of No.3, Department of Basic Education, U Ye Win, Dala Township Administrator, teachers and students, Committee Chairman and committee members of the construction project and local residents.
At the ceremony, U Ye Win stated “The new Government headed by President U Thein Sein has been focusing on education and health sectors development. Although the Government is supporting school construction, there still are budget limits. In this situation, the Government of Japan and its people have supported construction of the needed schools.” He concluded his speech by expressing his deepest gratitude to the Japanese Government and its people.
Following that speech, Mr. MATSUOKA stated “We appreciate the efforts of the committee, the construction company and the people concerned with the implementation of the project. We hope that students study and play a lot in this school to become future leaders of Myanmar.” He concluded the speech wishing for a long-lasting Japan-Myanmar friendly relations.
The Japanese Government provided USD $107,150 under its Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGP) Scheme for the construction of Khanaung Chaungwa Village Basic Education Middle School in Dala Township, Yangon Region. The Government of Japan, under its GGP Scheme, will continue various assistances in the future. The Japanese Government anticipates that this assistance will further strengthen existing friendly relations between Japan and Myanmar.
