
The handover and opening ceremony of Thee Seng Village and Lai Lwe Village Sub Rural Health Centers and Upgrading medical equipment for Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Tiddim Township Hospital took place in Thee Seng Village, Tiddim Township, Chin State on 25th March 2015.
The ceremony was attended by Mr. Yusuke MATSUOKA, First Secretary of the Embassy of Japan, midwives, committee chairman, committee members of the project and local residents.At the ceremony, the representative of Thee Seng Village gave a speech stating, “I, on behalf of local residents in Tiddim Township, would like to thank the Japanese Government and its people for the support.”
Following that speech, Mr. MATSUOKA stated, “The Government of Japan is offering assistance to upgrade and strengthen Myanmar’s health sector. We have assisted 192 health sector projects such as hospital and rural health center construction and supporting installments of medical equipment in this country. Due to the high need for assistance and its importance, Japan will continue its assistance to the health sector.” He concluded the speech wishing for a long-lasting Japan-Myanmar friendly relations.
The Government of Japan provided US$140,369 under the Japanese Government’s Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGP) Scheme for “The Project for Upgrading Medical Health Environment in Tiddim Township, Chin State”. The Government of Japan, under its GGP Scheme, is planning to continue various assistances in the future, and anticipates that the assistance will further strengthen existing friendly relations between Japan and Myanmar.
