Handover and Opening Ceremonies for Three Schools in Tanintharyi Region

The handover and opening ceremonies of Nyin Htwe Village Basic Education High School in Ye Phyu Township, Thabut Village Basic Education High School in Myeik Township, Shawtawmaw Village Basic Education Post Primary School in Kyun Zu Township took place in respective Township of Tanintharyi Region on 24th, 25th and 26th April 2015.

The ceremonies were attended by Mr. Katsuyuki MATSUOKA, Second Secretary of the Embassy of Japan, U Tin Soe, Tanintharyi Region Minister for Forestry and Mines, Dr. Kyaw Hsan, Tanintharyi Region Minister for Transport, U Tun Yi, Tanintharyi Region Director for Department of Education, teachers and students, committee chairmen, committee members of the projects, and local residents.

At the ceremony of Shawtawmaw Village Basic Education Post Primary School, U Tin Soe stated “We are glad to open a new school building that will be nurturing human resources who would bear the future of Myanmar. We, on behalf of the Tanintharyi Region, would like to thank the Government of Japan and its people for the great support.”

Following that speech, Mr. MATSUOKA stated “We appreciate the efforts of the committee, the construction company and the people concerned with the implementation of the project. We hope that students study and play a lot in this school to become future leaders of Myanmar.” He concluded the speech wishing for a long-lasting Japan-Myanmar friendly relations.

The Government of Japan provided US$539,802 under the Japanese Government’s Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGP) Scheme for (1) The Project for Construction of Nyin Htwe Village Basic Education High School in Ye Phyu Township, Tanintharyi Region, (2) The Project for Construction of Thabut Village Basic Education High School in Myeik Township, Tanintharyi Region and (3) The Project for Construction of Shawtawmaw Village Basic Education Post Primary School in Kyun Zu Township, Taninthari Region. The Government of Japan, under its GGP Scheme, is planning to continue various assistances in the future, and anticipates that it will further strengthen existing friendly relations between Japan and Myanmar.
