
The handover and opening ceremony of Lay Paw Mu School in Kyauk Kyi Township, Bago Region was held on 20th July 2015.
The ceremony was attended by Mr. Kazuyoshi SUZUKI, Second Secretary of the Embassy of Japan, U Saw Jubilee San Hla, Bago Region Minister for Karen National Affairs, U Baby Ohn, Bago Region Minister for Electric Power and Industry, U Nyan Swe Win, Kyauk Kyi Township Pyithu Hluttaw Representative, Committee Chairman, committee members of the construction projects, and local residents.
At the ceremony, U Baby Ohn stated, “School construction is sensibly important because education bears the future leaders of Myanmar. I visited Lay Paw Mu School four years ago and observed that the students had to study in congested classrooms as well as in a temporary building. We would like to thank the Government of Japan and its people for the great support to solve thxe issue. I want to encourage the students to maintain the building for long-term use.”
Following that speech, Mr. SUZUKI stated, “We appreciate the efforts of the committee, the construction company and the people concerned for the implementation of this project. We hope that the students study and play vigorously in this school to become future leaders of Myanmar.” He concluded the speech wishing for a long-lasting Japan-Myanmar friendly relations.
The Government of Japan provided US$92,035 under the Japanese Government’s Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGP) Scheme for “The Project for Construction of Lay Paw Mu Basic Education Branch Middle School in Kyauk Kyi Township, Bago Region”. The Government of Japan, under its GGP Scheme, is planning to continue various assistances in the future, and anticipates that it will further strengthen existing friendly relations between Japan and Myanmar.
