
The handover and opening ceremony of Yae Kyaw Village Basic Education Middle School took place in Kawthmu Township, Yangon Region on January 21, 2015. This ceremony was attended by Mr. Ichiro MARUYAMA, Minister Counsellor of the Embassy of Japan, U Win Tun Naing, Yangon Regional Hluttaw Parliament Representative, U Myo Than Htike, Deputy Township Administrator, teachers and students, committee chairman and committee members of the construction project and local residents.
At the ceremony, U Win Tun Naing stated “The students from nearby villages are relying on the Yae Kyaw Village School for their secondary education. It is noble that the Government of Japan and its people keep supporting school building constructions in Myanmar without expecting any benefits.” He concluded his speech on behalf of Myanmar people, expressed his deepest gratitude to the Japanese Government and its people.
Following that speech, Mr. MARUYAMA stated “We wish that the students will be disciplined and respect their parents. They will be able to lead development of Myanmar in the future.” He concluded the speech wishing for a long-lasting Japan-Myanmar friendly relations.
The Japanese Government provided US$92,588 under its Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGP) Scheme for the construction of the Yae Kyaw Village Basic Education Middle School in Kawthmu Township, Yangon Region. The Government of Japan, under its GGP Scheme, is planning to continue various assistances in the future, and anticipates that this assistance will further strengthen existing friendly relations between Japan and Myanmar.
