
The handover and opening ceremony of Nyaung Shwe No.2 Post Primary School was held on 1st December, 2015.
The ceremony was attended by Mr. Taro WATANABE, Second Secretary of the Embassy of Japan, U Win Myint, Inn National Race Affairs Minister (Shan State), U Ohn Kyaw Than, Taunggyi District Education Officer, Committee Chairman, committee members of the construction project and local residents.
At the ceremony, U Win Myint stated, “there are more than 2,000 schools in Shan State. As education is most important for future development of the country, the State Government has been trying to improve the education facilities. However, it cannot fulfill all the needs yet”. He concluded the speech by expressing his appreciation to the Japanese Government and its people for the support of the school building.
Following the speech, Mr. Taro WATANABE stated, “We are very glad to support this school building. We hope the students studying in this building will become the future leaders of Myanmar and wished for the further development of friendly relations between Japan and Myanmar”.
The Government of Japan provided US$127,142 under the Japanese Government’s Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGP) Scheme for “The Project for Construction of Nyaung Shwe No.2 Post Primary School in Nyaung Shwe Township, Shan State”. The Government of Japan, under its GGP Scheme, is planning to continue various assistances in the future, and anticipates that it will further strengthen existing friendly relations between Japan and Myanmar.
