Myanmar National Symphony Orchestra Concert 2016


The Embassy of Japan in Myanmar and Ministry of Information proudly present “Myanmar National Symphony Orchestra Concert 2016” in Yangon on 22nd January, and in Nay Pyi Taw on 25th January.

Mr. Yunosuke Yamamoto (conductor and cellist) and Ms. Kyoko Koyama (Pianist) are coming to Yangon regularly from 2012 and having music workshop with members of orchestra. Last year, after having 4 time intensive workshop they have had concert successfully at National Theatre of Yangon in December 2014. In 2015, they had intensive workshop for 5 times and 10 Japanese musicians came to join the each workshop.

And for this concert, some of those Japanese musicians will come again, and Mr. Yosuke Yamashita who is world well known jazz pianist will come to Yangon for this concert and he will perform with orchestra together.

It is entry free and all are welcome. We are looking forward to seeing you all !!

4. Artist Profile
YUNOSUKE YAMAMOTO (CONDUCTOR)
Always explained as an emotional, passionate music story teller, playing and conducting of Yamamoto moved and touched people around the world. Yamamoto gave also concerts with Kyoko Koyama and Sebastian See Shierenberg supported by British Council and Myanmar Ministry of Culture in National Theratre Yangon in front of a live audience of 1700 people.
Successfully finished concert on Dec. 2nd 2014 in National Theatre Yangon, he conducted Myanmar National Symphony Orchestra with sensational repertory such as from Beethoven to Mission Impossible as a result of Yamamoto’s orchestra workshop 2014.
Now he is a Principal Conductor of Tokyo New Philharmonic Orchestra, and Artistic Director of MNSO.

KYOKO KOYAMA (PIANO)
Fascinating, brilliant, and gorgeous sonolity, Kyoko has got in her magic fingers. She started piano age of 3. Completed her study in Warsaw Chopin Academy and in Munich.
Won numerous prize such as Maria Canals in Barcelona, Finale Ligureand so on. Concertizing in Japan, Europe and USA. Recently, her activity expands to East Asia, Myanmar where she started to coach many musicians including Myanmar National Symphony Orchestra. Joining as a soloist with MNSO in December 2nd 2014 in Yangon National Theatre.
Now she is a Music Adviser of MNSO.

YOSUKE YAMASHITA (PIANO)
Yamashita has been performing on the international stages. He has given many concerts all over the world also has collabolated with various musicians including Ornette Coleman, Cecil Taylor, Stanislav Bunin. In 1988 Yamashita formed his own New York Trio with bass player Cecil McBee and drummer Pheeroan akLaff. In 1994, he was invited to the 50th anniversary concert of Verve Records, a prestigious jazz label, as a sole musician participated from Asian countries.
In September 2013, he released his New York trio’s 25th anniversary album “Grandioso” from Verve, Universal Music. In February 2015, he made concert tour to Slovakia and Czech Republic. He received “the Education Minister’s Encouragement Award”, “the Medal with Purple Ribbon” from Japanese Government.

MYANMAR NATIONAL SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
Myanmar National Symphony Orchestra was founded in 2001. In last few years, they performed under foreign conductors. Since March 2014, Yamamoto gave workshop 4 times with MNSO to broaden their repertoires to prepare on the stage of ASEAN scene. The remarkable work what Yamamoto did this time is he wrote and re-arrange music for MNSO not only classical repertoire but also Myanmar folk music for the orchestra.
The concert in 2014 was there debut with new repertoire from Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin to Myanmar Music and others.
