
The handover and opening ceremonies at Mya KanThar Basic Education Primary School in Hopin Sub-Township, Obstetrics and Gynecology Ward at Bamaw General Hospital in Bamaw Township and No.1 Basic Education High School in Bamaw Township, Kachin State were held on 5th and 7th March 2016 respectively.
The ceremonies were attended by Mr. Kazuyoshi SUZUKI, Second Secretary of the Embassy of Japan, U SeinMyint, Bamaw District Administrator, U Win Maung, Mohnyin District Education Officer, U ThanNyo, Bamaw District Education Officer, Committee Chairpersons, committee members of the construction projects, and local residents.
At the ceremony of No.1 Basic Education High School, U Than Nyo stated, “Both students and parents are very happy because the students can now study in the new school building. Compared to the previous school building, this is a much better learning environment for the students. We, on behalf of our people, would like to thank the Government of Japan and its people for the great support.”
Following the speech, Mr.Kazuyoshi SUZUKIstated,“We appreciate the efforts of the committee, the construction company and the people concerned for the implementation of the project. We hope that the schoolbuilding will enable the studentsto access a better studying environment and to become future leaders of Myanmar.” In the end, he wished for the further development of friendly relations between Japan and Myanmar.
The Government of Japan providedUS$839,321 under the Japanese Government’s Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects(GGP) Scheme for “The Project for Construction of Mya KanThar Basic Education Primary School in Hopin Sub-Township, Kachin State”, “The Project for Construction of Obstetrics and Gynecology Ward at Bamaw General Hospital in Bamaw Township, Kachin State” and “The Project for Construction of No.1 Basic Education High School in Bamaw Township, Kachin State”. The Government of Japan, under its GGP Scheme, is planning to continue various assistances in the future, and anticipates that it will further strengthen existing friendly relations between Japan and Myanmar.
