
The handover and opening ceremony of Min Ywa High School in Thanatpin Township was held on 16th June 2016.
The ceremony was attended by Mr. Hideaki HIGASHI, Second Secretary of the Embassy of Japan, U Myint Oo, Pyitthu Hluttaw Representative of Thanatpin Township, Daw Myint Myint Than, Director of Bago Region Education Department, Committee Chairman, committee members of the construction project, and local residents.
At the ceremony, U Myint Oo stated, “The Japanese Government has been supporting Myanmar to develop education over a number of years. We would like to express our appreciation to the Japanese Government and its people for the construction of this new school building”.
Following the speech, Mr. HIGASHI expressed, “We heard that the students who graduated from neighboring 15 primary schools are studying in Min Ywa High School. We’re glad to contribute to developing secondary education in Thanatpin Township and wished for the further development of friendly relations between Japan and Myanmar”.
The Government of Japan provided US$99,271 under the Japanese Government’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) Scheme for “The Project for Construction of Min Ywa High School in Thanatpin Township, Bago Region”. The Government of Japan, under its GGP Scheme, is planning to continue various assistance in the future, and anticipates that it will further strengthen existing friendly relations between Japan and Myanmar.
