
The handover and opening ceremony of Pwint Phyu Township Basic Education High School in Pwint Phyu Township, Magway Region was held on 1st July, 2016.
The ceremony was attended by Dr. Aung Moe Nyo, Chief Minister of Magway Region, Mr. Naoya KISHI, First Secretary of the Embassy of Japan, Chairperson and members of the construction project Committee, and local residents.
At the ceremony, Dr. Aung Moe Nyo stated, “I acknowledge that Japan has been widely providing assistances for the past decades to the development of Myanmar. In particular, it is my pleasure to note Japan has supported nearly 500 schools in Myanmar including this Pwint Phyu Basic Education High School. I would like to sincerely thank the Government of Japan and its people for various kinds of supports, such as infrastructure and health.”
Following the speech, Mr. Naoya KISHI shared his thought, “The Government of Japan as well as Japanese private sectors would be much delighted to support Myanmar. I would like the students of Pwint Phyu Basic Education High School to “study hard, play hard” in this new school building and make your neighbors happy,” wishing for the further development of friendly relations between Japan and Myanmar.
The Government of Japan provided US$102,769 under the Japanese Government’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) Scheme for “The Project for Construction of Pwint Phyu Basic Education High School in Pwint Phyu Township, Magway Region.” The Government of Japan, under its GGP Scheme, is planning to continue various assistance in the future, and anticipates that it will further strengthen existing friendly relations between Japan and Myanmar.
