Handover and Opening Ceremonies for Two Schools and One Rural Health Center in Putao Township

The handover and opening ceremonies of Lon Sha Yang Village High School, Madam Shan Gaung Village Middle School, and Mansay Village Rural Health Center were held on 27th January 2016.

The ceremonies were attended by Mr. Kei MAEDA, First Secretary of the Embassy of Japan, U Tun Wai, Putao District Administrator, U Zay Yar Myint, Putao Township Administrator, Daw Khin Pwar, Putao Township Education Officer, Committee Chairman, committee members of the construction projects, and local residents.

At the ceremony of Lon Sha Yang School, U Tun Wai stated, “Japan and Myanmar have a good relationship for a long time. We thank the Government of Japan and its people for the construction of school building. We assure that the supported school will enable the local people to have a better learning environment.”

Following the speech, Mr. Kei MAEDA stated, “We are very glad to support the school buildings where needed. We hope the students studying in this building will become the future leaders of Myanmar.” and wished for the further development of friendly relations between Japan and Myanmar.

The Government of Japan provided US$593,879 under the Japanese Government’s Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGP) Scheme for “The Project for Construction of Lon Sha Yang Village Basic Education Branch High School in Putao Township, Kachin State”, “The Project for Construction of Madam Shan Gaung Village Basic Education Branch Middle School in Putao Township, Kachin State, and “The Project for Construction of Rural Health Center in Mansay Village, Putao Township, Kachin State”. The Government of Japan, under its GGP Scheme, is planning to continue various assistances in the future, and anticipates that it will further strengthen existing friendly relations between Japan and Myanmar.
