Handover and Opening Ceremonies for Two Sub Rural Health Centers and Kindergarten in Hpa-an Township, Kayin State

The handover and opening ceremonies for two Sub Rural Health Centers (SRHC) and Ein Du Kindergarten in Hpa-an Township were held on 7th and 8th December 2016 respectively.

The ceremonies were attended by Mr. Hideaki HIGASHI, Second Secretary of the Embassy of Japan, Dr. Tin Win Kyaw, Social Affairs Minister of Kayin State, Committee Chairpersons, committee members of the construction projects, and local residents.

At the ceremony of two SRHCs, Dr. Tin Win Kyaw stated, “In Hpa-an Township, about 30 out of 92 SRHCs had been struggling to operate without proper buildings and equipment. Therefore, the staffs have been in a local resident’s house providing healthcare services for villagers. Today, we have received newly constructed 2 SRHCs, staff quarters and medical equipment from the Japanese Government. We really appreciate the provision of SRHC buildings, staff quarters and medical equipment by the Japanese Government and its people. This assistance would dramatically improve our health care environment.”

Following the speech, Mr. HIGASHI stated, “It’s our pleasure to contribute to a development of the health care environment in Hpa-an Township. I hope that these SRHCs support your healthy life for many years to come,” wishing for the further development of friendly relations between Japan and Myanmar.

The Government of Japan provided US$200,023 under the Japanese Government’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) Scheme for the above two projects. The Government of Japan, under its GGP Scheme, is planning to continue various assistances in the future, and anticipates that it will further strengthen existing friendly relations between Japan and Myanmar.
