Handover and Opening Ceremonies for a School and two Rural Health Centers in Kayah State

The handover and opening ceremonies of Inn Win Basic Education Primary School and Ywa Oo Basic Education Branch High School in Hinthada Township, Ayeyarwady Region were held on 9th November 2016.

The handover and opening ceremonies of Loilen Lay Village Basic Education High School in Loikaw Township, Sin Taung Village Sub Rural Health Center in De Maw So Township and Mei Se Nan Village Rural Health Center in Mese Township were held on 9th and 10th of December 2016 respectively.

The ceremonies were attended by Mr. Yusuke MATSUOKA, First Secretary of the Embassy of Japan, U L Phaung Sho, Kayah State Chief Minister, Dr. Aung Kyaw Htay, Kayah State Minister for Development and Social Affairs, Committee Chairpersons, committee members of the construction projects and local residents.

At the ceremony of Loilen Lay Village Basic Education High School, U AL Phaung Sho stated, “The Myanmar Government and the Kayah State have given the highest priority to Education Sector. In order to achieve sustainable development of the State, not only the Government but also each of us are required to make efforts. As we have now received such great supports provided by the Japanese Government and its people, we need to maintain and utilize the facilities well.”

Following the speech, Mr. Matsuoka shared his view, “I would like the students of Loilen Lay Village Basic Education High School to study hard and play hard in this new school building to become good leaders of this country.”

The Government of Japan provided US$365,427 under the Japanese Government’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) Scheme for the above three projects. The Government of Japan, under its GGP Scheme, is planning to continue various assistances in the future, and anticipates that it will further strengthen existing friendly relations between Japan and Myanmar.
