Handover and Opening Ceremonies for a Sub Rural Health Center and a Rural Health Center in Chin State

The handover ceremonies of Chun Chone Village Sub Rural Health Center (SRHC) in Hakha Township and Aibur Village Rural Health Center (RHC) in Htan Ta Lan Township, Chin State were held on 21st and 23rd December 2016, respectively.

The ceremonies were attended by Mr. Keita IWASE, Second Secretary of the Embassy of Japan, U Zo Bawi, Hluttaw Speaker of Chin State, U Pau Lun Min Thang, Social Affairs Minister of Chin State, Committee Chairpersons, committee members of the construction projects, and local residents.

At the ceremony of Chun Chone Village Sub Rural Health Center, U Zo Bawi stated, “On behalf of local residents in Hakha Township, I would like to thank the Japanese Government and its people for the support. Most of the villagers in Chin State cannot access healthcare services due to the lack of proper buildings and equipment. The local residents will make an effort to maintain a new building and medical equipment for long-term use.”

Following the speech, Mr. Keita IWASE stated, “The Japanese Government has been supporting people all over the world for their primary healthcare. Now, the residents in Hakha Township can receive medical treatment, vaccination and delivery assistance in this sanitary SRHC building. We hope that this center will contribute to the residents’ healthy lives for a long time.”

The Government of Japan provided US$216,946 under the Japanese Government’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) Scheme for the above two projects. The Government of Japan, under its GGP Scheme, is planning to continue various assistances in the future, and anticipates that it will further strengthen existing friendly relations between Japan and Myanmar.
