MEDICAL EQUIPMENT FOR IN LOIKOW GENERAL HOSPITAL

IN KAYAH STATE

The Government of Japan , under the Japan's Grassroots Grant Assistance Scheme , will provide a grant aid of US$ 71,425 to “Loikaw General Hospital in Kayah State” for procurement of medical equipment for that hospital.

Loikaw General Hospital was established in 1948 as a 25-bedded facility. It became a 200-bedded state hospital with 10 specialist departments in 1996. The hospital covers the whole Kayah State and even extends its services to some townships in the southern Shan State. In consideration of the prompt and more efficient diagnosis and treatment for the patients seeking treatment at the facility, equipment such as ultrasound, ECG monitor, x-ray machine, GI endoscope, oxygen concentrator, autoclave, operation theatre lamp, blood storage refrigerator, defibrillator, suction machine, infant incubator, infusion pump, etc will be funded. It is expected that the contribution would benefit the patients in need and improve hospital's medical services.


The Grant Contract to this effect is signed on 14 September 2005 at the Embassy of Japan in Yangon , between Mr. H iroshi Kawamura , Minister/Deputy C hief of M iss io n , Embassy of Japan to the Union of Myanmar, and Dr. Min Ko, Medical Superintendent of “ Loikaw General Hospital in Kayah State”.
