JAPAN 'S GRASSROOTS GRANT ASSISTANCE

For procurement of medical equipment for Kokang People's Hospital

in Northern Shan State Special Region No.1

The Government of Japan, under the Japan 's Grassroots Grant Assistance Scheme, will provide a grant aid of US$ 80,983 to “Kokang People's Hospital Management Committee” for procurement of medical equipment for that hospital.


Kokang People's Hospital was established in 1998 as a 60-bedded facility in Laukkai Township of Northern Shan State Special Region No.1. The hospital with its specialist departments such as internal medicine, general surgery, pediatrics, obstetric and gynecology, orthopedics, etc covers Cin Shwe Haw, Kon Chan and Laukkai townships in the region. In consideration of the prompt and more efficient diagnosis and care for the patients seeking treatment at the facility, equipment such as anesthetic machine, ventilator, x-ray machine, cardiac monitor, ECG, ultrasound, microscope, blood electrolyte analyzer and urine analyzer will be funded. It is expected that the contribution would benefit the patients in need and improve hospital's medical services.


The Grant Contract to this effect is signed on 14 February 2006 at the Embassy of Japan in Yangon , between Mr. Hiroshi Kawamura, Minister/Deputy Chief of Mission , Embassy of Japan to the Union of Myanmar, and U Tun Lwin, Deputy Chief of “Kokang People's Hospital Management Committee”.
