The Government of Japan , under the Japan's Grassroots Grant Assistance Scheme , will provide a grant aid of US$ 57,180 to “State General Hospital, Lashio” for procurement of medical equipment for that hospital.
The 200-bedded Lashio hospital was established in 1946 to provide health assistance for emergency medical and surgical, paediatric, obstetric and gynecology, orthopedic, psychiatric and dental cases. In addition, imaging, physiotherapy and laboratory services are made available for the population of Northern Shan State relying on the facility. In consideration of the prompt and more efficient diagnosis and cure for the patients seeking treatment at the facility, equipment such as ECG, Patient Monitor, Ventilator, Sterilizer, Automatic Suction Machine, Syringe Pump, etc. and some hospital furniture will be funded. It is expected that th e contribution would benefit the needy patients and improve the hospital's medical services.
The Grant Contract to this effect was signed on 6 September 2006 at the Embassy of Japan in Yangon , between Mr. Tetsuro Amano, Minister/Deputy C hief of M iss io n , Embassy of Japan to the Union of Myanmar, and Dr. U Khin Maung Wah, Medical Superintendent of “ State General Hospital , Lashio”.
