in Mandalay Division

17 January 2007

The Government of Japan, under the Japan 's Grassroots Grant Assistance Scheme (GGA), will provide a grant aid of US$ 28,064 to “ Ngathayouk Station Hospital Management Committee ” for installation of a water supply system for Ngathayouk Station Hospital in Nyaung U District, Mandalay Division .

This hospital was established in 1974 as a 16-bedded facility and later extended to include Maternity and Sangha wards. The hospital receives patients with various health needs from 34 neighboring villages. In response to the request of “ Ngathayouk Station Hospital Management Committee ”, the Government of Japan under the GGA Scheme will provide funding for the construction of a 700 feet deep tube-well furnished with the water pump. The project will be implemented with the coordination and technical assistance from Bridge Asia Japan (BAJ), a Japanese NGO which has been operational in Myanmar since 1995. It is expected that the assistance would improve the water supply for the hospital staff, patients and villagers dwelling in neighboring villages.

The Grant Contract to this effect was signed on 17 January 2007 at the Embassy of Japan in Yangon, between Mr. Tetsuro Amano, Minister/Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of Japan to the Union of Myanmar, and U Aung Than , Chairman of “ Ngathayouk Station Hospital Management Committee ”.
