The Japanese Embassy will be presenting MacArthur's Children ( Setouchi Shonen Yakyu-dan ) directed by Masahiro Shinoda at the Assembly Hall of the Embassy on 27 February 2007, Tuesday ( 2:30 p.m. ) and 28 February 2007, Wednesday ( 2:30 p.m. )
Tickets for the Film Show will be available at the Embassy from 9:00 to 12:30 and 13:30 to 17:30 from 13 February 2007 to the day of the show. One ticket is for one person only. Please note that the total number of audience is limited.
Synopsis ; It is 1945, on the island of Awajishima , in the Inland Sea . Japan has just lost the war and the fifth- graders are being taught how to commit harakiri in one classroom, the confucian analects in the next, and American English in yet another. One of the teachers is a newly-wed who has lost her husband in the war. To channel the children's energy and her own and to rebuild the confidence of both, she decides to organize an American baseball team. The children respond with enthusiasm and soon the day comes when they are ready to play in the big league- this league being real American ballplayers from a mainland Army camp. .
