Synopsis ; Noriko is a victim of thalidomide. She was born without arms but was in all other ways a normal, healthy girl. With no hands, she grew extraordinarily adept with her feet. She was refused admission into grade school, but was finally accepted by an understanding teacher.

After graduation she passed a difficult employment exam and found work at the municipal office. Also, she forced herself more into the world in an effort to make friends and to live, as best she can, a normal life.

'' I was born to bring tragedy to my parents. The birth of a crippled child shocked my parents so much that my father deserted us,” Noriko said.
