The Japanese Government , under it s Grassroots Grant Assistance (GGA) Scheme , decided to extend assistance US$ 82,614 to a humanitarian assistance program in Kayah State entitled “The Project for Construction of Moe Bye High School and Khemaphyu Middle School in Kayah State ”.
Mr.Tetsuro AMANO, Minister – Counselor, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of Japan in the Union of Myanmar, signed the grant contract on 17 th August 2007 with U Kyaw Zaw, Chairman of the Educational Development Committee for Kayah.
In both of Moe Bye village and Khemaphyu village, educational facilities are insufficient these days because of the increasing number of students in those areas. Although the residents have made strenuous efforts to improve their educational facilities, they are confronted with a financial difficulty.
In such circumstances, the Government of Japan has decided to provide funding for the construction of school buildings, toilets, water supply facilities and school furniture in Moe Bye high school and Khemapyu middle school through its GGA scheme.
It is expected that this GGA contribution will enable the students at the above schools to study in better conditions .
