Start of Entries for the Second International MANGA Award

 

21st December 2007

 

1. The Second International MANGA Award Executive Committee starts to accept entries for the Second Award from December 21 (Fri). Guidelines for application and entry forms are available on the following website.

2. The Award was established this May to honor MANGA artists who have contributed to the promotion of MANGA overseas. On November 26 (Mon), the Second International MANGA Award Executive Committee was set up and it formally decided as a second event.

3. The Golden Prize of the Second International MANGA Award will be given to the best MANGA from all the entries and about three distinguished works will receive the Silver Prize. In addition, the Japan Foundation will invite prize winners to Japan for about 10 days including the award ceremony. They will also meet with Japanese MANGA artists and visit publication companies in Japan .

The Second International MANGA Award Guidelines for Application

•  Purpose

To Promote MANGA Overseas

•  Conditions of Entry Works

•  MANGA (4 or more pages) must be made in countries outside Japan .

It does not matter when the works were made, or whether they were published or not. However, works which received the First International MANGA Award or the International MANGA Encouragement Award will not be eligible this time.

•  MANGA works must be submitted in printed form.

•  Publishing companies overseas are permitted to apply for the Second International MANGA Award only if they confirm that their MANGA artists are willing to apply for it.

December 21, 2007 – February 29, 2008 (entry must arrive by Feb 29)

•  Two copies of a work must be submitted.

•  Others

Please make sure you attach the entry form filled in either in Japanese or English to your works.

•  Return of Works

Works entered will not be returned to applicants. Therefore, if your work has not been published yet, make sure you submit only copies, not originals.

•  Selection

The Second International MANGA Award Evaluation Committee is in charge of the selection procedure.

6. Prize

(1) The Golden Prize of the Second International MANGA Award will be given to the best MANGA from all the entries and about three works of merit will receive the Silver Prize.

(2) The prize winners will be invited to Japan for about 10 days including the award ceremony.

7. Award Ceremony

The award ceremony will be held in Tokyo in the summer of 2008.
