UNDER GRASSROOTS GRANT ASSISTANCE (GGA) SCHEME

for "Installation of Water Supply System in Zagyan Village, Mandalay Division "

The Government of Japan, under its Grassroots Grant Assistance (GGA) Scheme, granted US$ 48,419 for Installation of Water Supply System in Zagyan Village , Mandalay Division .

Mr. Tetsuro AMANO, Minister-counsellor/Deputy Chief of Mission , the Embassy of Japan in the Union of Myanmar, and U Kyaw Soe, Chairman of Zagyan Village Water Committee, a recipient organization, signed the grant contract on 20 th March 2008 .

In consideration of the serious water scarcity in the village, the Government of Japan decided to provide the fund to Zagyan Village Water Supply Committee for the construction of a deep tube-well with two water storage tanks, construction of a engine house, installation of a pumping machine to send water from the tube-well and pipelines to the hospital and school.

It is expected that the assistance will improve the lives of the residents in Zagyan Village through upgrading the water supply in the village.
