The Government of Japan decided on 15 May 2008 (Thursday) to extend, the third emergency relief goods such as generators, water tanks etc. equivalent to about \ 43,000,000 Japanese yen ( approximately U.S.$ 380,000 ) in total, through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), to the Government of the Union of Myanmar, which has been sustaing serious damages from cyclone Nargis. This is an additional emergency aid, following its first aid on 05 May 2008 and second aid on 07 May 2008 . The total amount of the emergency relief goods from the Government of Japan is U.S. $ 950,000. The government of Japan also decided emergency assistance of U.S. $ 10 million to Myanmar through UN agencies on 9 May 2008 .
His Excellency Mr. Hitoshi Kimura, Senior Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, is visiting Yangon to attend the handing over ceremony to be held at Yangon International Airport on 18 May 2008 (Sunday).
The Government of Japan has decided to extend the emergency humanitarian relief of view, considering the friendly relationship between the two countries, taking account of the scale of the disaster.
