Anime means Japanese cartoon movies to everyone and it is appreciated all over the world. It is developed from Japan 's unique culture “Manga” and has been becoming very popular especially in Europe . Why is Anime accepted and appreciated globally? This lecture will analyze the secrets of its international competitiveness and will explore the future potential of Japan animation with some slide show. Anyone who has interest in Japan 's pop culture should not miss this lecture.

Takamasa Sakurai has wide-ranging career, but his keen interests always remained in creative industries, particularly in the area of digital arts and education. Mr. Sakurai started his business career as an editor of a major publishing house in Tokyo . He produced a large number of non-fiction books in such areas as politics, economy, medicine, arts, sports and entertainment. Mr. Sakurai himself was a writer, and also produced a radio program while working at the publisher.
He then moved on to internet business as a contents producer, and was involved in Japan ' s internet service since its inception. He was in charge of planning and production of various corporate websites including major automobile companies. While witnessing the dawn of Japan ' s internet business, Mr. Sakurai was eager to pass his experience onto younger generation, teaching contents production at various educational institutions. He recently expanded the scope of work by producing visual contents such as a video-clip of a number of popular Japanese musicians.
He co-wrote a book, “ Digital no shigoto ga shitai (How to find a “ digital ” career) ” which explains in detail the career in contents industries to the younger generation, thus encouraging them to find a career in the industry. Mr. Sakurai currently works as an independent contents media producer. He believes his life-long goal is to explore the potential of Japan ' s animation industry in a global context including its role in foreign relations. He engages himself in a field work to further study the issue. On the subject of Japanese animation industry, Mr. Sakurai has extensive experience of giving lectures internationally in such countries as Italy , Germany , Spain , Czech Republic , Saudi Arabia and South Korea .
