ASIAN YOUTH FELLOWSHIP SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME for 2009 (AYF)

The application for Asian Youth Fellowship (AYF) will start from August 13 (Wednesday), 2008. The Information and Culture Section of the Embassy of Japan ( 100 Natmauk Road , Bahan Township , Yangon . Tel. 549644~8) will accept the applications until November 3, 2008 during 13:30 ~ 17:00 on weekdays. The application forms will be available at the Embassy.

Successful applicants will aim at a degree at graduate school in Japan as Japanese Government Scholarship Student after they learn Japanese at the Japan Foundation Japanese-Language Institute in Osaka , Japan .

Qualifications for Applicants

Age: Under 35 at the time he/she enters Japanese graduate school

Academic Background: University graduate with good academic record

Field of Study: Humanities, Social Sciences, Engineering and Natural Science

EXCEPT Japanese Studies or Japanese Culture Studies

Standard of Screening

(a) University graduates who have principally completed 16 years of school education.

(b) Good academic record.

(c) Majoring in a field that is expected to contribute to the regional development.

(d) Proficiency in English and have a strong will to learn the Japanese language.

(e) In good health.

(f) Wish to pursue Master's or Doctoral programme.

(g) Willingness to live in provided dormitory throughout the programme.

Financial Sponsorship during AYF Programme

(a) Fundamental textbooks will be free of charge.

(b) Accommodation will be provided.

(c) Food allowance and special allowance will be provided.

(d) Medical insurance will be provided.

(e) Return air tickets to Japan from international airport of student's country will be provided.

(f) All expenditure for taking the entrance exam for graduate school during the programme will be covered.
