Synopsis:
Young Ichiro falls in love with pretty Yuko and takes her home to introduce to his widowed father, Michio. When Yuko finds Michio deaf-mute, she flees in a state of near-shock. Being the son of handicapped parents, Ichiro, despite being well-educated, has been unable to acquire either a good job or a sweetheart. Worried about his son, Michio asks Yuko to reconsider, but she flatly refuses, stating that she plans to marry someone else.
A man named Sakai offers Ichiro a job in his woodworking shop. Impressed by the man's kindness, Ichiro accepts it and proves himself a hard worker. Sakai wants Ichiro to marry his daughter, Miyo, who was born deaf; but she refuses her father's plan saying she has a lover, who is also deaf and unable to get a good job despite his college education…
