The Japanese Government's Grassroots Grant Assistance for

"The Project for construction of Byet-Kha Rural Health Centre in Kayin State"

The Government of Japan, under it s Grassroots Grant Assistance (GGA) Scheme , decided to extend assistance of US$ 37,086 for a humanitarian assistance program entitled “The Project for Construction of Byet-Kha Rural Health Center in Kayin State”.

Mr. Kazuyuki Takeuchi, Minister / Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of Japan in the Union of Myanmar, and U Kyar Bu, Chairperson of Byet-Kha Rural Health Center Construction Committee signed the grant contract on 17 th November 2008.

Byet-Kha village is situated about 18 miles (30 kilometers) away from the state's capital Hpa-an. Since a rural health center is very important for the villagers' health, the Government of Japan will fund through its GGA Programme the construction of a rural health center equipped with water and sanitation facilities. This assistance is expected to benefit villagers of Byet-Kha village by promoting their health, and further strengthen existing friendly relations between Japan and Myanmar.
