The Government of Japan, under it s Grassroots Grant Assistance (GGA) Scheme , decided to extend assistance of US $ 88,250 for a humanitarian assistance program entitled “The Project for Provision of Medical Equipment for Jivitadana Sasana Hospital in Mandalay Division”.
Mr. Kazuyuki Takeuchi , Minister/Counselor, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of Japan in the Union of Myanmar, and Dr. Nyan Tun, Medical Superintendent of Jivitadana Sasana Hospital signed the grant contract on 20 th November 2008.
Jivitadana Sasana Hospital was established in 1986 as a 50-bedded facility to provide treatment in general medicine, surgery, ophthalmology, child health, rehabilitation and indigenous medicine. In recognition of the importance of the role played by hospital for providing better health care for the population of Mandalay , the Government of Japan decided to fund medical equipment including an anesthetic, an ultrasound, an analyzer, an elisa reader, an endoscope machine and a traction machine.
It is expected that this assistance will improve the hospital's medical service and benefit patients in the area, and further strengthen existing friendly relations between Japan and Myanmar
