The Japanese Government's Grassroots Grant Assistance for

"The Provision of Medical Equipment for Muse District Hospital in Shan State"

The Government of Japan, under it s Grassroots Grant Assistance (GGA) Scheme , decided to extend assistance of US $39,716 for a humanitarian assistance program entitled “ The Project for Provision of Medical Equipment for Muse District Hospital in Sha n State ”.

Mr. Kazuyuki Takeuchi , Minister/Counselor, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of Japan in the Union of Myanmar, and Dr. Daw Aye Yee, Medical Superintendent of Muse District Hospital, signed the grant contract on 10th December 2008.

Muse District Hospital was established in 1967 as a clinic and has been gradually upgraded to a 100-bedded district hospital. In recognition of the hospital's efforts to provide better health care for the population of Muse district, the Government of Japan decided to fund medical equipment including an ultrasound, an Infant Incubator, two Radient Warmers, an Autoclave, three Electric suction machines, a Micro Centrifuge, an ECG with monitor, a Trolley for patient and a trolley for equipment.

It is expected that this assistance will improve the hospital's medical service and benefit patients in the area, and further strengthen existing friendly relations between Japan and Myanmar.
