The Government of Japan, under its Grassroots Grant Assistance (GGA) Scheme, decided to extend assistance of US$ 80,531for a humanitarian assistance program entitled “The Project for Construction of Kyun Gyi Rural Health Centre in Bago Division”.
Mr. Kazuyuki Takeuchi, Minister / Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of Japan in the Union of Myanmar, and Dr. U Than Htut Oo, Township Medical Officer of Kyun Gyi Rural Health Centre Development Committee, signed the grant contract on 22nd January 2009.
Kyun Gyi village is situated about 7 miles (11 kilometers) away from the division’s capital, Bago.Since a rural health center is very important for the villagers’ health, the Government of Japan will fund through its GGA Programme the construction of a rural health center equipped with water and sanitation facilities.This assistance is expected to benefit villagers of Kyun Gyi village by promoting their health, and further strengthen existing friendly relations between Japan and Myanmar.
