Signing of the Grant Agreement for Grant Aid Assistance from Japanese Government to Myanmar through FAO

The government of Japan decided to extend grant assistance equivalent to 200 million yen (approximately US$ 2 million) to Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) through Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for Restoration of Food Security and Agriculture Based Livelihoods in Cyclone Nargis Affected Areas of Irrawaddy Delta inMyanmar.

TheGovernment of Japan decided to implement the above aid assistance for early recovery of agriculture in Irrawaddy Delta in Myanmar.

H.E. Mr. YasuakiNogawa, Ambassador of Japan to the Union of Myanmar, andH.E. Maj.Gen.Htay Oo, Minister for agriculture and Irrigation of the Union of Myanmar, will attend the signing ceremony of the Grant agreement for this assistance, which will be signed at Sedona Hotel in Yangon at 10:00 on 26January, 2009, by Mr. Hideo Miyamato, representative of JICA in Myanmar and Dr. Shin Imai, representative of FAO.
