H.E. Mr. Yasuaki Nogawa, Ambassador of Japan to Myanmar, has signed and exchanged the Notes with H.E. U Soe Tha, Minister for National Planning and Economic Development of the Union of Myanmar which covers an amount of 348 million yen (approximately 3.4 million US dollars) for the project "Human Resource Development Scholarship" to be provided under the Grant Aid scheme of the Government of Japan.The signing ceremony was held at the Ministry of National Planning and Economic Development on 24 July 2009.
"The Human Resource Scholarship Project", which started in 2002, gives opportunities to promising Myanmar Junior officials for further studying at Japanese Universities to attain Masters' degree.Under this project, 223 young Myanmar people have already been sent to Japan and 115 have completed Masters’ degree and returned to Myanmar.
It is expected that the project will contribute to the development of Myanmar and promote existing friendly relations between Japan and Myanmar.
