JAPAN'S AID UNDER GRASSROOTS GRANT ASSISTANCE (GGA) SCHEME FOR

" The Projects for Reconstration of School Building Destroyed by the Cyclone Nargis in Yangon Division "

The Government of Japan, under its Grassroots Grant Assistance (GGA) Scheme, decided to extend assistance for reconstruction school buildings destroyed by the Cyclone Nargis in Yangon. The amount in total is as much as US$387,121, which consists of the following projects:

1.Wa Ba LaukThaukHigh School in KawHmuTownship,Yangon Division

2.No. 16 Primary School in DalaTownship, Yangon Division

3.AyeYwaLayPrimary School in HtanTaPinTownship,Yangon Division

4.TamanGyiPostPrimary School in KyaukTanTownship, Yangon Division

5.Ka La We Post Primary School in ThanlyinTownship, Yangon Division

 

Mr. KazuyukiTakeuchi, Minister / Deputy Chief ofMission of the Embassy of Japan in the Union of Myanmar, and Chairman of each school Construction Committee have completed signing for the grant contracts by 23October 2009.

In order to recover a better learning environment for study the government of Japan will provide funding through its GGA programme for reconstruction of reinforced concrete school buildings in Cyclone affected area. It expected that this assistance will benefit the students in their pursuit of formal studies and further strengthen existing friendly relations between Japan and Myanmar.
