Handing over Ceremony of Doe Pin Orphanage in Pyin Oo Lwin Township, MANDALAY DIVISION held

 3rd /December /2009

The Government of Japan, under its Grassroots Grant Assistance (GGA) Scheme, granted US$ 85,108 for “The Project of the Construction of Doe Pin Orphanage in Mandalay Division” on December 15, 2008. One-storey building of reinforced concrete which is comprised of two bedrooms, one study/dining room with furniture, funded by the Embassy of Japan, was handed over by Mr. Hisanori Yoshimura, Second Secretary of the Japanese Embassy to the authorities concerned from Doe Pin Orphanage on November 18, 2009.

Doe Pin Orphanage was established in 1978 and was recognized by the Department of Social Welfare, Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement as the first-class orphanage in 2000 and provided board, lodging and education to 425 children. Since the orphanage did not have enough rooms for children to study, dine and sleep, it had long been in need of an annexe building. The Japanese government funded a one-storey building for this orphanage under the Grassroots Grant Assistance Scheme in order to help provide a better living and learning environment for children.

It is expected that this assistance will benefit children of Doe Pin Orphanage, thereby further strengthening existing friendly relations between Japan and Myanmar.
