JAPAN’S GRASSROOTS GRANT ASSISTANCE (GGA)

FOR THE PROJECTS OF RECONSTRUCTION OF SCHOOL BUILDINGS DESTROYED BY THE CYCLONE NARGIS IN KYAIKLAT TOWNSHIP, AYEYARWADDY DIVISION

The Government of Japan, under its Grassroots Grant Assistance (GGA) Scheme, decided to grant aids worth about US$981,159 for reconstruction buildings of the following schools destroyed by the Cyclone Nargis in Kyaiklat Township, Ayeyarwaddy Division:

 

1. Basic Education Primary School No.10

2. Basic Education Middle School (Affiliate) Sitkon Tinkokegyi Village

3. Basic Education Primary School Ohn Pin Su Village

4. Basic Education Primary School Hta Yaw Taman Village

5.  Basic Education Primary School Lamu Lay Village

6.  Basic Education Primary School Darna Chaung Village

7.  Basic Education Post Primary School Kya Khat Su Village

8.  Basic Education Primary School Payargyi Kwin Village

9.  Basic Education Primary School Sin Ku Village

10.     Basic Education High School (Affiliate) Pay Chaung Village

11.     Basic Education Primary School Ka Thit Tan Village

12.     Basic Education Primary School Kun Gyan Su Village

13.     Basic Education Post Primary School Ta Nyi Village

14.     Basic Education Primary School Ka Nyin Kone Village

15.     Basic Education Primary School Kyone Thi Mayan Village

16.     Basic Education Middle School Kyone Thi Wa Village

17.     Basic Education Primary School Kun Gyan Kone Village

18.     Basic Education Primary School Taung Boh Gyi Village

19.     Basic Education Primary School Ngwe Inn Su Village

20.     Basic Education Primary School No.1 Htone Gyi Village

21.     Basic Education Middle School (Affiliate) Kun Pa Lai Village

 

Mr. Kazuyuki Takeuchi, Minister / Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of Japan in the Union of Myanmar, and Chairmen of School Construction Committees completed signing of grant contracts on 11 December 2009.

 

 

In order to create a better learning environment the government of Japan will continue to provide funding through its GGA programme for reconstruction of school buildings in Cyclone-affected areas. It is expected that this assistance will benefit students in their pursuit of formal studies, thereby further strengthening existing friendly relations between Japan and Myanmar.
