THE JAPANESE GOVERNMENT’S GRASSROOTS GRANT ASSISTANCE FOR
“The Project for Provision of Equipment for
Food Analysis Laboratory in Yangon Division”

The Government of Japan, under its Grassroots Grant Assistance (GGA) Scheme, decided to extend assistance of US$ 96,946 for a program entitled “The Project for Provision
of Equipment for Food Analysis Laboratory in Yangon
Division”.
Mr. Mitsuji Suzuka, Counsellor of Japan in the
Union of Myanmar,
and U Zaw Min Win, Chairman of Myanmar
Agro Based Food Processors and Exporters Association, signed the grant contract of this project on 22 December
2009.
Myanmar Agro Based Food Processors and Exporters Association is a NGO formed under the guidance of
Ministry of Commerce to improve the quality of local agro-based food products. Since
Myanmar
local agro-based products are not able to compete effectively in the local and
international markets due to lack of enough food analysis, the Government of
Japan will fund through its GGA Programme the provision of chemical and
micro-biological laboratory equipment to Myanmar
Agro Based Food Processors and Exporters Association.
This assistance is expected to benefit people
of Myanmar by promoting
their Agro-based industry, and further strengthen existing friendly relations
between Japan and Myanmar.
