Start of Entries for the Photo - Haiku Contest, 2010

The Japanese Embassy, Yangon will start accepting entries for the Photo- Haiku Contest 2010 to be held on July 9, 2010 at Assembly Hall of the Embassy from June 1, 2010.

 

Haiku is a form of Japanese Poetry consisting of three exact phrases of 5, 7 and 5 sound units (17 units in total) respectively. Haiku typically must contain Kigo (a Seasonal word). Here is an example of how to separate 5, 7 and 5 sounds units:

Photo- Haiku is a combination of Photograph and Haiku in harmony. Five photographs are assigned for this contest (please see the attached ). Applicants must select one photograph and compose one Haiku Poem in harmony with the chosen photograph.

15 applicants will be chosen to participate in the final contest.

9:00 – 12:30 and 13:00 – 17:00

(Weekdays only)

Subject to compose: Haiku Poem in harmony with the applicant’s chosen photograph.

 

Limited number of entries: Only one haiku may be submitted per applicant.

 

Eligible Contestant: Only Myanmar Nationals

 

Date and Time ofContest: July 9, 2010, 15:00-17:00

 

Venue: Assembly Hall, the Embassy of Japan
