The Government of Japan, under its Grassroots Grant Assistance (GGA) Scheme, decided to extend assistance of US$ 106,002 for a humanitarian assistance program entitled “The Project for Reconstruction of Kyun Galay Village Post Primary School in Yangon Division”.
Mr. KazuyukiTakeuchi, Minister / Deputy Chief ofMission of the Embassy of Japan in the Union of Myanmar, and U Phyo Zaw Oo, Chairman of Zayar Maung Community Development Society, signed the grant contract on 20th August 2010.
Previous School buildings were damaged by Cyclone Nargis that struck two years ago. In order to recover a better learning environment for this school, a two-storey reinforced concrete school building comprised of 8 classrooms and school furniture will be funded under the GGA Scheme. This assistance will benefit the students in their pursuit of formal studies and further strengthen existing friendly relations between Japan and Myanmar.
