Twenty young Myanmar food safety team members nominated by the Myanmar Agro-based Food Processors and Exporters Association (MAFPEA) will visit Japan from 21 to 28 June 2011 under a short-term invitation programme of the Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths (JENESYS) programme.
The purpose of this visit is to strengthen the relationship of food safety researchers and engineers between Myanmar and Japan, and deepen the mutual understanding between the two countries. During their stay in Japan, the participants will visit food safety institutions and food manufacturing companies to observe the latest food safety system in Japan, and also experience Japanese culture. The sending-off ceremony for the Myanmar food safety team members will be held on 21 June 2011 at the Sedona Hotel.
The JENESYS programme was launched at the Second East Asia Summit in 2007, with the aim of establishing a strong basis for the solidarity of Asian countries. Under the exchange programme, the Government of Japan plans to invite thousands of youths from Asian countries to Japan during the period 2008 to 2014.
It is expected that the visit of the young Myanmar food safety researchers and engineers to Japan under the JENESYS programme will contribute to the development of the Myanmar food industry, thereby promoting existing friendly relations between Japan and Myanmar.
